Counterpoint: you brought a lot of value to the org doing non-consulting work and chose to call it consulting. The definition of a consultant is an advisor, not someone who prototypes or implements.

The good news is when you provide value I don't think anyone cares what you call yourself. I don't think anyone changes their mind about hiring you based on some hot take posted on the internet.
